Some stories happen all at once.

Ours didn’t.

We have known each other for over 20 years.

Long before there were plans, before there was a “we,” there was just a connection—something that never really went away, no matter how much time or distance came between us.

Life took us in different directions for a while. Different paths, different experiences, different chapters.

But somehow, we were always still part of each other’s story.

Years later, in the middle of one of the hardest times in my life, Aldijana reached out.

What started as a simple moment—just checking in—became something more.

A conversation turned into many.
Those conversations turned into something familiar.
And that familiarity quickly turned into something undeniable.

It didn’t feel forced.
It didn’t feel rushed.

If anything… it felt like something that had been waiting for the right time all along.

And maybe that’s because, in some way, neither of us ever really let go of the beginning.

After all these years, I still had the very first picture we ever took together.

And Aldijana still had the page she wrote my phone number down on for the very first time.

Small things. Simple things.

But the kind of things you don’t hold onto unless something—no matter how much time passes—has always meant something more.

Our relationship wasn’t built overnight.

It was built on years of knowing each other, understanding each other, and finding our way back to something that always felt natural.

There was no pretending. No pressure to be anything other than exactly who we are.

Just two people who found comfort, peace, and happiness in each other again.

Through everything—long days, busy schedules, challenges, and quiet moments—we showed up for each other.

In the big ways.

And in the small ones that matter even more.

She has a way of making people feel seen, comfortable, and cared for the moment they’re around her.

And together, we’ve learned how to keep going, no matter what life throws at us.

We balance each other in a way that just makes sense.

What we found isn’t just love.

It’s a partnership.
A friendship.
A sense of home in another person.
